At The Martialist we believe that knowledge is power.  In order to empower you, the reader, we make a great deal of information available for free.  It is our hope that you will find this information of use.

Shorthand Empty Hand
In 2005 I published my first book on self-defense, Shorthand Empty Hand.  The hardcopy book is now out of print, but you may download a free PDF version of the book as its “Second Edition” from my website.  That’s right: It’s completely free.

Be A Martialist
This is the booklet that started it all — our prototypical discussion of the philosophy of martialism, as practiced by the martialists who participate at this site and in our discussion forum.  Be a Martialist is a PDF file that you may download right to you computer.  This material will eventually be expanded into a full-length book that we hope will be a comprehensive treatment of the subject.

The_Homeless_Threat
A thorough treatise on the security threat offered by street people, vagrants, bums, “the homeless,” and any of several groups of people in whom our society misplaces its compassion. This is a PDF file.

Street_Chucks
A basic guide to the mechanics of the nunchaku, a thoroughly misunderstood martial arts weapon. This is a PDF file.
