After reading an article entitled Is flouride part of globalist plot? by freelance author and technical writer Phil Elmore posted on the WorldNetDaily website, I was motivated to correct Mr. Elmore’s misconceptions. In order to do this, I have decided to present evidence concerning the health dangers of fluoride.

The irony is that of all the very important topics I have covered in Technocracy, involving very real threats to your freedom as a citizen of the United States, the subject that has gotten the most attention to date is… fucking fluoride.

My WND Technocracy column this week debunks conspiracy theories about fluoride, which some wingnuts seem to believe is a Nazi-era brain-softening industrial waste toxin used for mass mind control.

“Poisonmongers” refers to the anti-fluoridation conspiracy theorists, whose alarmist websites and printed matter railing against the supposed dangers of fluoride in drinking water far outnumber the pages explaining, reasonably and logically, why fluoride in your tap water is not dangerous to you. According to the conspiracy theorists, fluoride was first added to water by the Nazis. It is, they say, one of the primary or active ingredients in Prozac, which means it is a mind-control drug used to make you more malleable in the face of external government control. For that matter, they claim, fluoride is an industrial waste product – a poison so deadly that it causes cancer, Alzheimer’s, Attention Deficit Disorder, arthritis, heart disease, kidney disease and, yes, even autism.

Except that it wasn’t, it isn’t, and it doesn’t.

“…Technology created the Barefoot Bandit. It was technology that allowed Colton Harris-Moore to access the information he used and to acquire the little training he had to commit the crimes for which he is believed responsible. Without the Internet, without flight-simulator games, without the easy access to diverse and sometimes obscure information that our technologically saturated age affords, Colton Harris-Moore could not have known how to do what he did. But technology also created the Barefoot Bandit in promulgating, in disseminating, his legend. Without the Internet, without blogs and Facebook and online T-shirt sales and video sharing and countless ‘fans’ talking to each other across the country and even around the world, Colton Harris-Moore could not have become famous. Had he not been famous, he would not have been caught … and so this technological snake begins to consume its own tail, circling back on itself in what is, ultimately, not a very exciting story at all…”

Everyone has family stories. One of mine relates directly to the way the political left has always used, and will always use, its political power to commit tyrannies great and small against private citizens.

While an employer does have the legitimate authority to censor the Internet access it provides to employees, the TSA’s move exceeded this authority in its vague attempt to render political opinion illegitimate. The legions of Americans who reacted with strong outrage to the TSA’s transparently Orwellian policy understood what the TSA hoped they would not: When those in power are allowed to dictate the rules without regard or respect for individual rights and constitutionally protected freedoms (such as the right to free speech), tyranny results.

We, as people, have always tended to want easy answers – fast answers – over laborious personal research. Common sense dictates that there’s little need to spend half an hour digging through source material if the woman sitting next to you or the man on the phone can simply give you the answer and let you get on with your life. To what extent, however, does ready access to fast answers, to a vast and immediately retrievable wealth of data, affect our very brains? How has the breathtaking cultural change that is the Internet affected our culture as dependence on the Web has become integrated into our society?

Is the Internet making us stupid?

I got a nice mention in Chuck Pruitt’s blog, recently:

I’ve been reading various blogs and giving some thought to the actual philosophies they seem to hold as part of their ‘worldview.’

While my main focus (focuses? foci?) is to relate my creating a life aligned with simplicity, minimalism, as well as regaining my health and rebuilding an athlete’s physique from my younger years, I also have to be aware of how I live that same life.

I am a bit of a contradiction in some eyes because as a Christian, I constantly run across people who seem to equate my belief system as being opposed to my desire to be martialist in my everyday living.

For those not familiar with the term martialist, rather than martial artist, I would refer you to Phil Elmore’s website http://www.themartialist.com for some great reading, explanations, and commentary.

A martial artist is someone who trains in a particular “art” or style of combative discipline for health, education, skill development, a desire for that sense of well being and an attitude of ‘I can take care of myself.’ They may study Judo, Karate, TaeKwondo, or several other major or minor known “arts” – but they will also have a sense of fairness and fair play embedded in what they do.

A martialist trains for survival. The main goal is to not get injured or killed; to protect one’s self from an attacker – using an means necessary, and, yes, that often means to fight unfairly. To be a martialist means to be committed to fighting unfairly – seeking every possible advantage through preparation, training, and the possession of equalizing tools, be they pepper spray, a pocket stick, a knife or a gun. (Yes, let’s be sure to obey and observe all legal requirements; but unfortunately, we do live in a world of violence, as much as we may wish it otherwise, and remaining safe and able to pursue our own goals means being prepared to deal with those who would unlawfully deny us these pursuits.)

Phil tells of one man who is older, has a bit of a belly on him, and does not look like a hard target. This man’s attitude is one of ‘wait until the mugger or local hard-case tries to confront him. He knows because of his training and attitude as a martialist, he not only will survive such an encounter, he will probably inflict some serious pain and damage on his attacker.” He does not intend to be a victim.

To quote Phil Elmore, “Self-defense is the inalienable right of all human beings. You are born with the natural right to your person. Your self is the one thing you can always and truly be said to own, for if you don’t own you, who does? You are not a slave. You are, therefore, entitled to defend yourself from violations of the property that is you. You have the right to fight back in order to stop others from harming you. You have the right to defend yourself from initiated violence, from violent crime. More importantly, you therefore incur the responsibility to prepare yourself for this undertaking.”

He does not favor any ideology nor does he subscribe to a specific school of thought. Phil’s philosophy of martialism is not interested in the political bickering that takes place among varying martial arts camps, save to keep you informed of the options available. He has succeeded on his website and in his philosophy of martialism because he remains objective, reasonable, rational, and direct – promulgating the concept of martialism and dynamic, assertive living.

So it has become part of own personal code to adopt this particular ‘Way of the Warrior’ – to be a peaceful warrior, but a warrior nonetheless. To prepare myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually to deal with situations that might be a threat to my own personal well being, as well as that of my wife and children.

Of course the goal of accomplishing this is made more interesting by how I can incorporate the martialist philosophy into my life in such a way that it is congruent with my other stated goals of simplicity, minimalism, and regaining the health, vigor, physical strengths and rebuilt body of the athlete I was and will be again.

Today’s post is a result of web-surfing on various topics of interest to me; this subject has been one of them. This post will not have any info on my diet, my training, or how much more I’ve thinned out my wardrobe. That will come in a day or two.

But I felt it was important to let you know more of my personal philosophy and where I stand on some issues. As you get to know me better, you may decide you want to follow me and my progress; or as you get to know me, you may decide that I’m not the person you initially thought me to be and will no longer follow my writings and musings. That’s okay. Follow your own heart and mind. Go where it takes you, even if we are no longer making the journey together.

Thanks, Chuck. It’s always nice when somebody grasps what we’re trying to do at The Martialist. I appreciate your kind words.

The severity and pervasiveness of violence recently committed by Democrats, leftists, and liberals against Republicans, conservatives, and libertarians has been very disturbing, but it should not be surprising. Now more than ever, it’s important that we expose the Democrats’ thuggery for what it is. That’s the topic of my WND Technocracy column this week.

The thuggery of Democrats will only get worse. No less a political figure than Barack Hussein Obama has, after all, made invocations of physical violence his rhetorical stock in trade. Confronted with dissenters? Argue violently with them by getting “in their face,” the president urges. As lib shock troops wave billy clubs at polling places and get away with it, as union backbreakers intimidate, beat and mutilate any who dare to oppose Obama’s agenda, the Democrats continue to support “gun control” because disarming you makes it easier for them to beat and murder you when you disagree with them.

Critical to exposing the violent, reprehensible conduct of Bob Etheridge was the presence of a video camera. Were the video not now viral, it would be a lying Democrat’s word against those of his critics (who, after all, can’t be trusted, because we don’t know for a fact that they’re “students”) in the court of popular culture opinion. The video evidence changes that and puts bullies like Etheridge, not to mention countless other Democrat thugs, on the defensive.

I received a phone call from Diallo Nkenge Frazier today. He has a Twitter account and is the author of a book called Revelations of a Warrior, which is described by the publisher, Dorrance, as “insight in to [sic] the mind and the philosophy of [the street fighter]. We may not agree with his objectives, but Revelations of a Warrior is an exposition of the training and the thinking of a pure fighter, the zen of street fighting.”

Read around the publisher’s evasive ad copy and it sounds like the book is a lot of posturing by someone who claims to be, in his “About the Author” blurb, a “street soldier of repute.”

When I answered his call, Mr. Frazier identified himself and told me he was a “52 Blocks” instructor. “I got this number from a student of mine,” he claimed, “who said you requested a history lesson.”

“I think your student is pulling both your leg and mine,” I said, “because he’s probably upset about a YouTube video I did about ‘52 Blocks.’” Mr. Frazier demanded to know how I did my research on the topic, and I explained to him that I examined all of the available online sources as cited in my video.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMRr_4a937o

Mr. Frazier interrupted me several times when I tried to explain to him precisely why anyone would have given him my number. Finally, he said angrily, “Do you know what Gambian wrestling is? And if you do, please explain it to me.”

At that point, chuckling to myself, I hit “end” on the call. Never teach a pig to sing, the saying goes — and never try to argue with a true believer in the urban legend of “52 Blocks.” Such people are so full of anger, so brimming with racially motivated hatred, that the fact that a single fat white guy somewhere in the Northeast dared to say their martial art is contrived and made-up just drives them absolutely nuts.

This morning, as every morning since I posted the video, I deleted more hateful, racist comments from the YouTube page for the video. These “52 Blocks” thugs amaze me. I suppose they shouldn’t.

I’ve written about homeless issues many times. My WND Technocracy column this week concerns that very issue.

The Treatment Advocacy Center’s Fact Sheet cites a 1993 study of HIV among homeless men in a New York City shelter, in which 19 percent of those living in the shelter tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS. According to a later study (April 2002) in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology (“Viral Hepatitis and Other Infectious Diseases in a Homeless Population”), “Chronic hepatitis C and co-infections are common among the homeless population.” Still another study, “Ectoparasitism and Vector-Borne Diseases in 930 Homeless People From Marseilles,” published in the journal Medicine in January 2005, concludes grimly, “Homeless people are particularly exposed to ectoparasites. … Over four years, 930 homeless people were enrolled. Lice were found in 22 percent and were associated with hypereosinophilia. … Twenty-seven patients (3 percent) with scabies were treated. … The uncontrolled louse infestation of this population should alert the community to the possibility of severe re-emerging louse-borne infections.”
